Latvian women's volleyball team loses to Germany

The Latvian women's national volleyball team lost 1-3 to Germany in their second match of the 2026 European Championship group stage. The set scores were 15:25, 18:25, 25:13, and 15:25.

Marta Levinska led the Latvian offense with 24 points, including 12 points in the third set, which was Latvia's only set win. Captain Paula Ņečiporuka contributed 10 points, and Anija Jurdža added 9.

A controversial refereeing error occurred during the fourth set. Despite a video replay, officials failed to recognize a ball touch by a German blocker during an attack by Ņečiporuka, awarding points to Germany instead of Latvia. Levinska noted that the error occurred at a critical moment when Germany was aggressively serving, disrupting Latvia's momentum.

Latvia is scheduled to play Poland next in the tournament.
