Latvian youth survey shows high dependency on smartphones
A survey conducted by Samsung Electronics Baltics in collaboration with Norstat reveals that 56% of young people in the Baltic states would find it difficult to survive a month without social media and smartphones.
The study, which included 949 participants aged 14 to 19, highlights that technology serves various practical purposes beyond entertainment. Specifically, 43% of respondents use technology to maintain communication with friends and family, 37% use it for learning, and 28% use it to maintain regular physical activity.
Regarding useful digital tools, 49% identified music applications, 48% cited communication apps, and 41% noted artificial intelligence tools. Additionally, 46% of the youth believe that technology can assist in forming healthy habits. If given the opportunity to change one daily habit using technology, 36% would choose more effective learning, while 13% would aim to reduce social media usage.
