Latvija pirmajā vietā party raises funds to cover €340,000 KNAB fine
The political party ‘Latvija pirmajā vietā’ (LPV) has reportedly secured donations from banking and transit industry figures to cover a €340,000 obligation. This fine was imposed by the Corruption Prevention and Combating Bureau (KNAB) following an investigation into an illegal pre-election advertising campaign.
According to the television program ‘Nekā personīga’, the funds were raised quickly through a surge in party donations. Notable contributors include individuals linked to ‘Rietumu banka’ and transit sector representatives, such as former Riga Freeport manager Leonīds Loginovs and entrepreneur Mihails Gaņevs.
LPV leader Ainārs Šlesers stated he has been personally contacting potential supporters to meet these obligations. Party representatives Edmunds Zivtiņš and Kristaps Krištopans noted that the party maintains a broad base of business supporters, particularly within the transit industry. KNAB has indicated it is continuing in-depth investigations into donations received by LPV and several other political organizations.
