Latvijas valsts meži ordered to evaluate management after cyberattack

The Latvian Ministry of Agriculture has instructed the board of Latvijas valsts meži (LVM) to evaluate the responsibility of the company's management following a cyberattack on its IT infrastructure on June 22. The evaluation must be completed by September 25, 2026.

In addition to investigating the cyberattack, the Ministry has directed the board to review the effectiveness of the company's current management model involving three board members. The board is also tasked with evaluating the volume of published information regarding the results of auctions for long-term and short-term timber product sales contracts.

The Ministry acknowledged a report from the LVM board regarding the cyberattack assessment and future IT solution developments. It also supported the board's assessment that the company will no longer be involved in the development, maintenance, or security assessment of the Election platform.
