Lauderdale Road Synagogue targeted by fireworks attack in London

A group of teenagers targeted the Lauderdale Road Synagogue in Maida Vale, West London, by launching fireworks at the building during the second day of Rosh Hashanah. The incident occurred on a Sunday afternoon, shortly after approximately 700 people had departed from a Jewish New Year service.

Security footage captured five suspects in hoodies launching two fireworks toward the Grade II listed building. While the explosions caused a “massive bang” and frightened bystanders and congregants, no injuries or physical damage to the synagogue were reported.

The Metropolitan Police are investigating the incident and reviewing CCTV footage. As of Monday, no arrests had been made. In response to the attack, police have increased patrols in the area during the High Holy Day period, and synagogue officials stated they would be tightening security further.
