Launceston National School Centre to become four residential flats

Lamisell Ltd Directors Pension Fund has submitted a prior‑approval application to Cornwall Council to convert the historic National School Centre on St Thomas Road, Launceston, from office use into four residential units – one one‑bedroom and three two‑bedroom apartments.

The proposal states the external façade will remain unchanged, preserving the building’s setting within the conservation area. A similar 2015 scheme to develop townhouses on an adjacent car‑park was withdrawn after 48 objections. The application (reference PA26/04635) seeks confirmation whether the conversion falls under permitted‑development rights or requires full planning permission.
