Launceston wins Cornwall Super Cup as St Austell extends unbeaten run

In Cornwall rugby, Launceston secured the Super Cup at Polson Bridge after defeating both Wadebridge Camels and Penzance and Newlyn. In their first match, Launceston beat Penzance and Newlyn 21-10, with tries from George Hillson, Billy Martin, and Sheldon Higgins. They followed this with a 26-0 victory over Wadebridge Camels, featuring four tries from Sheldon Higgins, Devon Bennett-Murray, and George Harris. The competition served as preparation for the upcoming season, which was delayed by two weeks due to recent hot weather.

In local football, St Austell AFC extended their unbeaten start to seven games with a 2-1 victory over Mousehole in the South West Peninsula League Premier West. After a scoreless first half, St Austell scored twice in quick succession through James Ward and Liam Eddy. Despite a late goal from Mousehole’s Steffan Van Blerk, St Austell held on for the win. Manager Chris Knight expressed mixed emotions, praising the club's atmosphere and crowd while criticizing the team's inconsistency and difficulty in maintaining a stable lineup due to injuries and player availability.
