Laundry care tips for fabric softener and clothes dryers

Proper laundry care involves avoiding common mistakes with fabric softeners and clothes dryers to preserve garment quality.

When using fabric softener, excessive amounts can prevent proper rinsing, leaving fabrics feeling unpleasant. It is essential to follow manufacturer dosing instructions and use the designated compartment in the washing machine to ensure it is released during the rinse cycle. Additionally, concentrated softeners require smaller doses than standard versions.

For clothes dryers, high temperatures can damage specific items. Sportswear containing elastane should be air-dried to maintain elasticity. Clothing decorated with sequins or beads should also be dried naturally to prevent decorations from loosening or falling off. Furthermore, bras and elasticated underwear may lose their shape if subjected to high heat, making air drying a safer alternative.
