Laundry care tips for removing stains and preserving denim
Experts provide practical advice for maintaining clothing and extending the lifespan of garments through proper laundry techniques.
To resolve white detergent residue or streaks on clothing, particularly on dark fabrics, using alcoholic vinegar is recommended. These marks often occur when washing machines are overloaded, preventing detergent from dissolving and rinsing properly. Soaking stained items in a vinegar and water solution for one hour can effectively break down soap and mineral buildup. To prevent recurrence, it is advised to fill washing machine drums to only two-thirds capacity.
For denim care, experts from Levi's suggest washing jeans less frequently—ideally once every ten wears—unless they are visibly soiled or odorous. To preserve color and shape, jeans should be washed inside out to minimize friction and detergent exposure on the outer surface. Airing out denim between uses is also recommended as a way to maintain fabric integrity.
