Laundry experts advise on hygiene and energy efficiency

Experts provide guidance on optimizing laundry habits to balance hygiene, fabric longevity, and energy costs. To maintain hygiene, underwear, socks, sportswear, and heavily perspired clothing should be washed after every use. Bras should ideally be washed every 3 to 4 days due to sweat and cosmetic absorption.

Regarding energy efficiency, specialists suggest that washing lightly soiled clothes at 20 or 30 degrees Celsius can be significantly more economical than the common 40-degree setting, potentially using up to half the energy. When using lower temperatures, it is recommended to extend the washing time to ensure effectiveness. For heavily soiled items, using a stain remover beforehand or increasing the temperature to 50 degrees is advised. Additionally, running washing machines with full loads helps maximize efficiency.
