Laundry maintenance tips for detergent and machine care

Proper laundry maintenance involves managing both detergent quality and washing machine settings to prevent damage and odors. Using hardened washing powder is discouraged because moisture absorption alters its chemical structure. When powder clumps, the active ingredients like enzymes and surfactants become unevenly distributed, reducing cleaning effectiveness and potentially failing to dissolve completely.

Additionally, relying solely on eco or short programs at low temperatures can lead to the buildup of bacteria and biofilms within the machine. To prevent unpleasant smells and maintain hygiene, it is recommended to run a cycle at least once a month at 60 degrees Celsius using a full detergent that contains bleaching agents. This process helps dissolve organic materials and kill bacteria.
