Household tips to restore softness to stiff towels

To prevent towels from becoming stiff and rough, several household methods can be used to remove buildup from detergent, fabric softener, and hard water minerals.

One effective technique involves using white vinegar and baking soda in separate wash cycles. Adding approximately 250 ml of white vinegar directly to the drum during the first wash can help strip residues. In a subsequent wash, adding a few tablespoons of baking soda can assist in removing deep-seated dirt and buildup from the fibers.

Alternatively, glycerin-based soaps may serve as a gentler cleaning option to avoid overloading cotton fibers with heavy chemicals. To maintain softness, it is recommended to avoid excessive amounts of detergent and fabric softener, prevent overloading the washing machine, and ensure towels are dried thoroughly after washing.
