Laundry tips for maintaining white towels and socks

Maintaining the brightness and softness of white textiles, such as towels and socks, requires specific care to prevent them from turning gray or yellow. Common causes of discoloration include the accumulation of sebum, sweat, and cosmetic residues, as well as minerals from hard water and detergent buildup.

To preserve white towels, experts suggest separating them from colored laundry, treating stains like foundation or cream before washing, and ensuring correct detergent dosage. Overusing fabric softener or washing at excessively high temperatures can also negatively impact texture.

For white socks, a simple method involves using common table salt. Soaking soiled items in a solution of three tablespoons of salt per liter of warm water for 30 minutes to three hours can help loosen impurities before proceeding with a standard wash cycle.
