Laura Cardoso, Brazilian television icon, dies at 98

Brazilian television icon Laura Cardoso has passed away at the age of 98. Her daughter, Fátima Balleroni, shared that the actress died at home, surrounded by her family, and passed away in the arms of her granddaughter, Adriana.

Cardoso was a pioneering figure in Brazilian performing arts, beginning her career in radio dramas during the 1940s. She was a foundational talent for TV Tupi and became a household name through decades of telenovelas, including notable roles in ‘Mulheres de Areia’, ‘A Viagem’, ‘Chocolate com Pimenta’, and ‘Gabriela’. Her career spanned over seven decades across radio, television, cinema, and theater, earning her several of the country's most prestigious awards.
