Laura Cardoso dies at 98 after legendary Brazilian TV career
Brazilian actress Laura Cardoso has died in São Paulo at the age of 98. Her passing marks the end of a significant era in Brazilian television, following a career spanning over 80 years and including numerous awards and iconic roles in productions such as ‘Fera Radical’, ‘Mulheres de Areia’, and ‘A Viagem’.
Cardoso is survived by two daughters, Fátima Carolina Balleroni Leite and Fernanda Balleroni, who have largely maintained private lives away from the spotlight. Her daughter Fátima previously assisted in preserving her mother's legacy through a 2017 exhibition at Itaú Cultural.
A public memorial mass is scheduled for Sunday, August 23, at the Igreja Nossa Senhora do Rosário de Fátima in São Paulo.
