Laura Castro receives Ángeles Alvariño National Award

Laura Castro, a researcher at the Universidade da Coruña (UDC), has been awarded the Ángeles Alvariño National Award by the Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities. The award recognizes excellence in emerging career trajectories.

Castro specializes in marine renewable energies and was honored in the area of Natural Resource Sciences and Technologies. She coordinates the Materials and Renewable Energies for Engineering, Environment and Sustainability (Mares) group at the Center for Research in Naval and Industrial Technologies (Citeni). Additionally, she is noted as the first female university professor in Naval Construction in Galicia and the second in Spain.
