Laura Daniela Puerto Osorio earns Medalla de Excelencia at WorldSkills 2026
Laura Daniela Puerto Osorio, a student from the Canary Islands representing Spain, has been awarded a Medalla de Excelencia at the WorldSkills 2026 competition in Shanghai. Competing in the Restaurant and Bar Services category, Puerto Osorio achieved a score of 725 points, placing her in a shared fifth position globally, just two points shy of a bronze medal.
The Medalla de Excelencia is an official recognition for participants who demonstrate a high level of professional performance by scoring above 700 points, even if they do not reach the podium. Puerto Osorio previously qualified for the event after winning gold at SpainSkills 2026.
The Spanish delegation, consisting of 34 students, earned a total of six recognitions at the event, which included one bronze medal and five Medallas de Excelencia. Other Spanish honorees included Juan García, who won bronze in Fashion Technology, and several others recognized for excellence in fields such as Cooking, IT Network Systems Administration, Automotive Technology, and Electrical Installations.
