Laura Dutra confirmed for SIC's Avenida Portugal

SIC and SP Televisão have confirmed key casting details for ‘Avenida Portugal’, a Portuguese adaptation of the Brazilian phenomenon ‘Avenida Brasil’.

Laura Dutra, 28, has been cast as the protagonist Rita/Nina, a role originally played by Débora Falabella. Dutra, a Luso-Brazilian actress known for ‘Nazaré’ and ‘A Lista’, will portray a character who seeks revenge against her stepmother after being abandoned as a child.

José Condessa will play Jorginho/Batata, the role originally held by Cauã Reymond. The production is currently in its initial preparation and pre-production stages. Other names, such as Ricardo Pereira, have been linked to the project by the press, though SP Televisão has only officially confirmed Dutra and Condessa at this time.

The adaptation, written by Pedro Barbosa Silva and Ana Lúcia Carvalho, will transpose the original narrative into a Portuguese reality. Jorge Queiroga is set to direct, with Bruno Oliveira managing production direction.
