Laura Esquivel celebrated in Saltillo with culinary tribute

Mexican author Laura Esquivel visited Saltillo, Coahuila, for a culinary tribute celebrating her international bestseller, *Como agua para chocolate*. Held at the Museo de las Aves, the event was organized by chef Ivonne Orozco and featured local chefs and traditional cooks recreating iconic dishes from the novel.

The menu included symbolic recipes such as quail in rose petals, chile en nogada, and tortas de Navidad. The celebration emphasized the connection between culinary traditions and emotion, with Esquivel noting, “When you cook with love, people receive it.”

Esquivel, who is known for her trilogy involving the character Tita, used the occasion to highlight the importance of preserving Mexican culinary traditions and giving visibility to women in the kitchen.
