Laura Fernández advances security and labor reform agendas

Costa Rican President Laura Fernández is advancing a legislative agenda focused on security and labor reform. Fernández announced that her administration is preparing a third package of security projects, which is expected to be presented to the Legislative Assembly between October and November. This follows 12 security initiatives that have already entered the legislative process and are currently undergoing committee review.

Additionally, during a meeting with the Pueblo Soberano (PPSO) party faction at the Legislative Assembly, Fernández expressed optimism regarding the 4-3 workday labor reform. She projected that the reform could become law by November, noting its potential to maintain national competitiveness and job creation. While criticizing political delays that increase legislative costs, the President emphasized the importance of maintaining quorum to pass the measure.
