Laura Fernández defends 100-day administration record amid opposition criticism

Costa Rican President Laura Fernández has completed her first 100 days in office, presenting a report on her administration's progress while facing significant criticism from legislative opposition.

Fernández stated she has no regrets regarding her management, despite what she described as intentional obstruction by a communist opposition bloc including the Frente Amplio, Liberación Nacional, PAC, and PUSC. She identified these groups as obstacles to key national development projects, such as the modernization of the national electricity market and the Crucitas project.

Opposition lawmakers countered the President's report, arguing that her assessment omitted critical pending issues such as public security, healthcare waiting lists, and support for the agricultural sector. Leaders from various factions criticized the administration for a perceived policy of confrontation and contradictions, while government supporters defended the Executive's performance during this initial period.
