German footballer Laura Freigang has spoken out regarding her emotional breakdown during a lap of honor for the national team following a match against Japan. The Eintracht Frankfurt captain described the moment as an unplanned release of emotion, stating, “Life is sometimes hard. Life is sometimes difficult. And life is sometimes sad. And then you can’t hold it together anymore.”

While Freigang declined to provide specific details, she noted that her long journey with the national team and the atmosphere of the crowd contributed to the moment. She added, “I am not ashamed of it. It was not planned. It is not always easy.”

Following her emotional moment with the DFB, Freigang returned to club action, scoring a goal in Eintracht Frankfurt’s 1-1 draw against Bayer Leverkusen. The goal was her fifth of the Bundesliga season.
