Laura Messina holds first solo art exhibition in La Romana

Dominican visual artist Laura Messina is presenting her first solo exhibition at the Altos de Chavón Art Gallery in Casa de Campo, La Romana. Curated by art historian and critic Lilian Carrasco, the exhibition features works created between 2025 and 2026.

The showcase is organized into two distinct series: “Apeiros” and “Kintsugi.” The “Apeiros” series explores themes of the infinite, matter, and space through organic structures and undulating lines. The “Kintsugi” series draws inspiration from the Japanese art of repairing ceramics, using the philosophy of highlighting fractures to explore human vulnerability, memory, and resilience.

The exhibition, which includes works using acrylic, oil, crayons, and markers on canvas, is scheduled for an official inauguration on November 7, though it may be accessible starting October 24. The show will remain open to the public until November 21.
