Laura Morante presents new book on 1960s Rome

Actress Laura Morante has presented her new book, ‘Dieci storie pop’ (published by La nave di Teseo), at the Pordenonelegge festival. Described by Morante as a hybrid between a collection of short stories and a novel, the work consists of ten tales set in the Centocelle neighborhood of Rome during the 1960s.

The narrative follows a consistent group of characters—including Bobby, Ester, Joe, Betty, Tony, Fred, Michele, Wilma, Jimmy, and Patty—as they navigate friendships, romance, and aspirations for success. Morante utilized popular music from the era as a central element to reconstruct the period of her childhood, noting that pop music acts as a catalyst for memories and emotions in a way distinct from classical music.
