Laura Moreno Resigns as Organization Secretary of Spain's Movimiento Sumar

Laura Moreno, the secretary of organization for the left‑wing platform Movimiento Sumar, has formally left the party. Her departure adds to a series of setbacks for the formation launched by Yolanda Díaz in 2024, which has struggled to establish a stable structure.

Earlier internal upheavals included the exit of the former vice‑president after poor European election results, and the resignation of the party’s economic chief, Carlos Martín, a year ago. New coordinators Lara Hernández and Carlos Martín were appointed, but an assembly to replace Moreno has yet to be called. spokesperson Verónica Martínez Barbero confirmed that Moreno quit a week ago, adding that she will remain linked to the organization and praised her commitment.

The resignations highlight ongoing challenges for Sumar as it attempts to consolidate its role within Spain’s left‑wing political landscape.
