Laura Pausini sparks social media debate over photo filters

A social media controversy has emerged following singer Laura Pausini’s publication of a modified photograph on Instagram. The image, which features Pausini alongside Kimi Antonelli, Marco Bezzecchi, and Jannik Sinner, was compared by online users to an original version released by the page @EccellenzaItaliana.

Giuseppe Candela sparked debate on X by highlighting the discrepancy between the two versions. He suggested that instead of using excessive Photoshop, celebrities who aim to send messages to their followers should promote a more responsible use of social media regarding body image and authenticity for younger generations.

In response, Francesca Barra criticized the backlash, describing the scrutiny of a woman’s use of filters as a form of violence. She argued that constant judgment of women’s bodies and physical imperfections creates a culture of insecurity and questioned whether society is truly prepared to accept authenticity.
