Laura Pugliese's Car Set Ablaze in Vibo Valentia, Italy

A Fiat 500 belonging to councilor Laura Pugliese was deliberately set on fire in the early morning in Bivona, a district of Vibo Valentia. The car was parked outside her home when unknown assailants ignited it, prompting an investigation by the Carabinieri to determine the cause and identify any suspects.

Pugliese, a former Democratic Party group leader who recently joined Italia Viva, has become the latest target in a pattern of intimidation against local officials. Recent incidents in Vibo Valentia include gunfire aimed at council president Antonio Iannello’s vehicle, assaults on municipal officers Andrea Nocita and Claudia Santoro, and a threatening message sent to assessor Marco Talarico. Investigators are reviewing surveillance footage and gathering witness statements, while also examining a prior violent attack on Pugliese’s husband, whose shop was beaten a year earlier.

Regional Italia Viva representative Filomena Greco expressed solidarity with Pugliese, condemning the act as part of an unacceptable series of violent episodes affecting the city’s administration.
