Lauren Coppinger selected for Canada U18 softball national team
Lauren Coppinger, a Grade 11 student from North Saanich, has been selected by Softball Canada for the U18 Women’s National Team. Coppinger, who plays third base and shortstop for the Central Saanich Extreme, is one of 16 athletes chosen for the roster.
She will join fellow Vancouver Island player Jessica Slater of Nanaimo as Canada prepares for the 2026 WBSC U18 Women’s Pan American Championship. The tournament is scheduled to take place in San Salvador, El Salvador, from November 21 to 28 and will serve as a qualifying event for the 2028 WBSC U18 Women’s World Cup.
Coppinger’s selection follows a successful season where she earned the Top Batter Award at the U17 national tournament in August, hitting .590 with four home runs and 20 RBIs.
