HBO develops Poison Ivy live-action series with producer Lauren LeFranc

Warner Bros. and DC Studios are developing a live-action television series centered on the iconic Batman villain Poison Ivy (Pamela Isley) for HBO. Lauren LeFranc, the showrunner behind the critically acclaimed series ‘The Penguin’, is in negotiations to join the project as a producer, though she is not expected to serve as a writer or showrunner.

The project is in its early stages of development and has not yet secured a lead actress, a writer, or an official release date. While some reports suggest the series could be part of James Gunn and Peter Safran’s new DC Universe, most industry sources indicate it will remain independent of Matt Reeves’ ‘The Batman’ cinematic universe.

Development of the series was reportedly paused due to the merger between Paramount and Warner Bros. The character, a botanist with the ability to control plant life and manipulate others via pheromones, has appeared in various live-action and animated formats but has never headlined her own live-action series.
