Laurene Powell Jobs invests $250 million in Skydance
Billionaire philanthropist Laurene Powell Jobs has acquired a significant stake in Skydance Corp., purchasing 20.83 million Class B shares at $12 per share. The investment, totaling approximately $250 million, was facilitated through a trust according to SEC filings.
In addition to the financial stake, Powell Jobs has been appointed to Skydance’s board of directors as an independent director. She joins a board that includes other notable figures such as former Activision CEO Bobby Kotick and Oracle executive vice chair Safra Catz. Former U.K. Prime Minister Tony Blair serves as an adviser to the board.
While the initial purchase price was $12 per share, recent market reports indicate the stock has since traded at a lower valuation, approximately $6.80 per share. Despite this market fluctuation, Skydance CEO David Ellison characterized Powell Jobs as a “true visionary” and noted her commitment to media investments and high-quality journalism.
