Laurie Anderson Teams Up with Shearwater on New Song “You And Your Dog”

Art‑pop pioneer Laurie Anderson appears as a guest vocalist on indie rock band Shearwater’s new track “You And Your Dog,” the closing song of their forthcoming album The New World, scheduled for release on July 31. The seven‑minute piece opens with a minute and a half of piano and clarinet before Anderson’s distinctive voice delivers a reflective story about a walk on the beach with a dog. Lead singer Jonathan Meiburg, who wrote the song, said the collaboration was a long‑standing wish.

A lyric video filmed by Meiburg in Chile accompanies the track, featuring a dream‑like journey through memory and landscape. The release also heralds Shearwater’s return to live performance, with a co‑headlining European tour alongside the band Loma, featuring dates in the United Kingdom, Netherlands, Germany, Denmark, Belgium, France, and Switzerland, and a New York show in the United States.
