Lauro de Freitas celebrates 64th emancipation anniversary with mass ceremony and development pledges
On July 31, Lauro de Freitas marked the 64th anniversary of its political emancipation with a packed Thanksgiving Mass at the Santo Amaro de Ipitanga Parish. The service was led by Padre Manoel Filho and attended by mayor Débora Régis, who praised the municipality’s progress and reaffirmed her administration’s commitment to public welfare.
State deputy Pedro Tavares also spoke, highlighting recent projects such as the Nelson Barros urgent care unit (UPA), the Pavimenta Lauro e Banho de Luz road works, the revitalisation of Campo do Vietnã, the Itinga community kitchen, and the Lauro Fila Zero programme aimed at reducing waiting lists for medical exams. He presented a motion of congratulations in the Bahia Legislative Assembly, underscoring the city’s economic dynamism and cultural diversity.
