Lauro de Freitas police operation leaves three dead

A police operation in the Areia Branca region of Lauro de Freitas, in the Metropolitan Region of Salvador, resulted in the deaths of three men on Friday afternoon. The confrontation involved members of a criminal faction and multiple police units, including the Special Police Operations Battalion (BOPE), RONDESP RMS, and the 81st Independent Military Police Company.

According to the Bahia Public Security Secretariat (SSP-BA), officers located a group of approximately ten suspects. During an attempt to approach and arrest the individuals, the suspects opened fire on the police teams, who responded. While three men were wounded and received medical assistance, they did not survive their injuries. Other members of the group managed to flee and are currently being sought by security forces.

During the operation, authorities seized a submachine gun, a pistol, a revolver, magazines, ammunition, and drugs. Investigations into the circumstances of the confrontation and the criminal activities of those involved are ongoing.
