Lauro man reported for presenting tampered electronic identity card

Carabinieri officers in Lauro have reported a 37-year-old man to the judicial authorities for material falsehood after he presented an electronic identity card (CIE) with the microchip removed. Investigations determined that the removal was not accidental, as the tampering prevents the correct reading of biometric and digital data.

Authorities noted that such tampering is part of a growing phenomenon where individuals remove microchips to obstruct automated verification systems used at airports, banks, and public offices, often to avoid perceived digital tracking. The document has been seized, and the individual remains under investigation.
