Lauryn Hill launches Diaspora Calling! festival in the UK

Lauryn Hill and fellow Fugees member Wyclef Jean promoted the Diaspora Calling! festival in London before the event’s opening in Milton Keynes. The festival, held at the National Bowl, marks the 30th anniversary of the Fugees’ album The Score, which the duo will perform in full.

The launch featured a large crowd at Piccadilly Circus where Hill unveiled a short animated film created by Los Angeles artist Lauren Halsey, displayed on the Piccadilly Lights. Hill described the festival as a celebration of African‑diaspora culture, community, and artistic expression. In addition to the headline performances, the lineup includes Erykah Badu, YG Marley, Zion Marley, Giggs and Fireboy DML, spanning hip‑hop, reggae, soul, R&B and Afrobeats. The event also incorporates visual art, fashion, film, food, wellness programs and diaspora‑owned businesses.
