Lausanne Grand Slam to host historic inclusive judo event

The Lausanne Grand Slam of judo is set to host a historic event at the Vaudoise Arena, marking the first time in history that able-bodied, Paralympic, and adapted judokas will compete on the same stage, using the same platform and structures.

The tournament is expected to draw approximately 800 to 900 athletes from over 50 to 78 different nations. Major delegations include Russia, Uzbekistan, Germany, the Netherlands, and Brazil, with the latter sending a team of 19 representatives.

Spanish judoka Ariane Toro Soler highlighted the significance of the inclusive format, noting that the integration allows athletes to learn from one another. The event serves as a key milestone in the sport's progression toward the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics.
