Lausanne Hockey Club secures comeback win over Geneva

In Swiss hockey, Lausanne Hockey Club (LHC) achieved a dramatic comeback against Geneva Servette Hockey Club (GSHC). Trailing 5-2 with only three minutes remaining in the match, LHC scored twice in rapid succession to equalize and eventually secured a victory in a shootout.

In the NHL, the Florida Panthers defeated the Carolina Hurricanes 1-0 in overtime. The game, which featured a banner raising ceremony for the Hurricanes, was decided by a goal from defenseman Gustav Forsling just five seconds into overtime. Florida goaltender Jacob Markström earned a shutout, stopping all 15 shots faced.

Additionally, in Vancouver Canucks debut, Paul Cotter scored two goals, including the overtime winner against Edmonton. Canadian defenseman Evan Bouchard recorded five points (three goals and two assists) in the same game, becoming the first defenseman in history to achieve such a feat in a season opener.
