Lausitz region hosts major cultural festivals and art events
The Lausitz Festival has commenced in Görlitz, running until September 13, 2026. The event features a program of concerts, readings, and theatrical performances designed to support the region's structural transformation. The Free State of Saxony is providing 500,000 euros in support for the 2026 edition. Saxony's Minister for Culture and Tourism, Barbara Klepsch, noted that the festival helps establish the Lausitz as a modern cultural region and aids tourism and local identity.
Simultaneously, the openart Lausitz Biennale is hosting an ‘Endstation Jam’ in Cottbus from September 4 to 6, 2026. Located at the former Großenhain station site, the event brings together 51 artists from across Germany to create graffiti art on approximately 1,600 square meters of blue walls. The event includes workshops and serves as a creative gathering for urban artists.
