LAUTECH health workers seek Governor Makinde’s intervention over unpaid arrears

The Joint Health Sector Union (JOHESU) at Ladoke Akintola University Teaching Hospital (LAUTECH) has called on Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde to intervene regarding unpaid worker arrears. The union claims that hospital management has failed to comply with the governor’s directives concerning the disbursement of funds intended for staff welfare.

According to the union, administrative lapses have significantly diminished the impact of the governor’s recent financial approvals. Specifically, JOHESU alleges that the hospital management submitted a computation to the government representing only approximately 20% of the actual liability for promotion arrears and minimum wage adjustments spanning from January 2018 to September 2024. This has left an outstanding balance of nearly 80%.

The union is requesting a lump-sum settlement of the remaining balance and has expressed concern that management has not yet complied with a directive to provide a full account of funds received for these purposes over the last six years. Additional demands include the payment of salary arrears for recalled and reinstated staff, as well as addressing decaying infrastructure.
