LAUTECH resident doctors threaten strike over welfare demands
The Association of Resident Doctors (ARD) at the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology Teaching Hospital (LTH) in Ogbomoso has threatened to resume industrial action on August 28, 2026. The threat follows the expiration of an eight-week suspension period granted to the Oyo State Government and hospital management to address welfare concerns.
Key unresolved demands include the release of the Medical Residency Training Fund, implementation of a new Professional Allowance table, payment of minimum wage arrears, and the urgent recruitment of resident doctors and other essential personnel. The ARD stated that the current welfare conditions have led to gross manpower shortages, leaving existing staff overworked due to frequent and prolonged call duties.
