LAV Ancona warns of potential cat thefts ahead of Halloween

The animal rights organization LAV in Ancona has issued a warning regarding the potential theft of cats from feline colonies in anticipation of Halloween. The alert follows reports of a suspected attempt to remove cats from a colony in Chiaravalle, though these incidents are still awaiting verification by competent authorities.

LAV is calling on citizens and those who care for feline colonies to remain vigilant and report any suspicious behavior to law enforcement immediately. The organization has requested that authorities implement preventive measures and increase surveillance in areas with known colonies to prevent illegal captures or animal mistreatment.

LAV also emphasized that cats in colonies are legally protected under regional regulations in the Marche region, noting that local municipalities and mayors hold the responsibility for their safeguarding.
