Laval to host World Climbing Europe Championship

The World Climbing Europe Championship is scheduled to take place on August 29 and 30 at the Espace Mayenne in Laval. This event marks the return of the continental championships after a two-year hiatus following the 2024 edition in Villars.

Italy is fielding a 16-athlete squad, consisting of eight lead specialists and eight speed specialists, split equally between men and women. In the lead climbing discipline, the competition features high-profile international climbers including Adam Ondra and Jakob Schubert. The Italian team includes Giovanni Placci, Filip Schenk, Ernesto Placci, and Andrea Ludovico Chelléris.

In the speed climbing category, defending European champion Ludovico Fossali and silver medalist Matteo Zurloni lead the Italian contingent. They will compete against 33 other speed specialists, including Gilles Meili, Morel, Ilchyshyn, and Noya Cardona.
