Lavalleja deputy proposes Cultural Innovation Center in Minas

Isabel Urquiola, a departmental deputy for the Vertiente Artiguista (Frente Amplio), has proposed the creation of a Cultural Innovation Center in Minas, Lavalleja. The initiative, currently before the Education and Culture Commission, aims to provide a free space for artistic expression, training, rehearsals, and audiovisual and musical production.

The proposal seeks to support local talent by offering resources such as rehearsal rooms, recording studios, and editing spaces. This would allow artists to develop projects locally without needing to travel to Montevideo for professional services. The project draws inspiration from the 'Usinas Culturales' model used by the Ministry of Education and Culture (MEC) to provide infrastructure for emerging artists and collectives.
