Lavalleja government launches new seed and training program

The Lavalleja Departmental Government has launched a new initiative for the distribution of spring-summer vegetable seeds. Moving beyond simple distribution, the program now includes decentralized in-person training sessions to strengthen local community gardens.

Managed by the Area of Economic, Productive, and Agricultural Development, the program focuses on agroecological management. Training covers garden planning, crop rotation, soil management, and efficient water use. Additionally, the initiative aims to promote autonomy by teaching families and institutions how to dry, clean, and conserve their own seeds for future planting seasons.
