Laverda brand revival proposed with LA-1 660 motorcycle
Designer Oberdan Bezzi has proposed the revival of the Laverda brand with the LA-1 660, an off-road motorcycle inspired by the 1970s regularity racing era. The project aims to offer a high-quality alternative to current scrambler and dual-sport models.
Following a historical precedent where 1970s Laverda off-road models (LH) utilized Swedish Husqvarna engines, the new LA-1 660 concept will utilize a 659 cm³ parallel-twin engine from Aprilia. This choice is facilitated by the fact that both Laverda and Aprilia are part of the Piaggio Group.
The Laverda brand, which originated in Breganze, Italy, has been absent from the motorcycle market for approximately twenty years. The brand has a long history dating back to 1949, gaining significant European prestige in the 1970s with models such as the 750 SF and various three-cylinder motorcycles.
