Lavínia to perform Gal Costa tribute show in Salvador

Singer, songwriter, and actress Lavínia will present the show ‘Lavínia em Gal Canta Caymmi’ this Friday at the Teatro Cambará in Salvador. The performance celebrates the 50th anniversary of Gal Costa’s 1976 album, ‘Gal Canta Caymmi’, which features exclusively the songs of Dorival Caymmi.

Directed by the Pernambucan artist Otto, the show aims to revisit Caymmi’s compositions through Lavínia’s own artistic identity rather than imitating Costa’s original interpretations. The performance will be accompanied by a full band featuring arrangements for strings, brass, and keyboards. The event takes place on the eve of what would have been Gal Costa’s 81st birthday.
