Lavrio home invasion: 32-year-old accused of attempted murder

A 32-year-old Romanian national is facing criminal charges for an attempted murder following a violent home invasion in Lavrio, Greece. The suspect allegedly used a ladder to reach a first-floor balcony, where he used a crowbar to break a glass door and enter the residence.

During the attack, the suspect used a knife to seriously injure a 32-year-old woman and her 33-year-old partner. The woman sustained injuries to her lungs, back, and limbs, and was transferred to Evangelismos Hospital, while the man suffered injuries to his ribs, clavicle, and genital area and remains in intensive care at Asklepieion of Voula. Two young children, aged 1.5 and 2.5 years, were present in the home during the incident but were not harmed.

The incident has drawn scrutiny toward domestic violence protection measures, as the victim had filed five previous reports against the suspect since November 2025 for threats and other issues. The suspect had been arrested as recently as September 3 for similar threats but was released under restrictive conditions. The Athens Prosecutor's Office has filed charges including attempted murder, illegal possession of weapons, and violation of restrictive orders.
