Law and Justice expels three MEPs from the party
The Law and Justice (PiS) party has officially expelled three Members of the European Parliament: Michał Dworczyk, Waldemar Buda, and Piotr Müller. The decision was handed down by the party's disciplinary court.
The three MEPs had already effectively distanced themselves from the PiS delegation in the European Parliament in late August. In September, they applied to form a new independent delegation called ‘Rozwój Plus’ (Development Plus), which is associated with the political circle of Mateusz Morawiecki. While they are leaving the PiS delegation, they intend to remain within the European Conservatives and Reformists (ECR) group.
Michał Dworczyk described the expulsion as an ‘unjust decision,’ noting that he had been a member of the party for 24 years. He stated that he was not invited to the disciplinary hearing and had not yet seen the formal documentation regarding his removal. The move is viewed by observers as a symbolic effort by PiS leadership to maintain control over the party narrative by framing departures as formal dismissals for violating party statutes.
