Law and Justice party faces crisis following PiS split

The Law and Justice (PiS) party is facing a significant internal crisis following the departure of a group of MPs, including former Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki. This split has led to the formation of a new political entity, Rozwój Plus, led by Morawiecki, which is attracting voters previously aligned with PiS.

Political strategist Krzysztof Łapiński notes that while the party faces pressure from the right via Konfederacja and from the center via Morawiecki’s new movement, a return to political prominence remains possible if the party reorganizes effectively.

In the Podhale region, local PiS activists have expressed enthusiasm regarding the split. Local party members view those departing with Morawiecki as competitors who occupied spots on electoral lists. The departure of figures such as Andrzej Gut-Mostowy and Ryszard Terlecki has created new opportunities for local candidates to secure parliamentary seats in upcoming elections.
