Law and Justice supports ‘Stop Banderyzmowi’ signature drive

The Law and Justice (PiS) party has mobilized its structures in the Podlaskie Voivodeship to support a citizen legislative initiative titled ‘Stop Banderyzmowi’ (Stop Banderism). The campaign aims to collect at least 100,000 signatures to advance the project to the Sejm.

The proposed legislation seeks to amend the Act on the Institute of National Remembrance and the Criminal Code. Key objectives include criminalizing the public promotion of OUN and UPA ideologies and penalizing the denial or falsification of crimes committed against the Polish population. The initiative is built on three pillars: protecting the memory of victims from the Second Polish Republic, defending historical truth, and establishing criminal liability for those promoting specific ideologies.

Additionally, the project includes provisions to increase penalties for illegal border crossings involving violence, threats, or deception, as well as for organizing such crossings. Organizers have set a deadline for physical signature cards to reach their headquarters by October 2026.
